Roughly half the town lost power early Wednesday morning after a broken wire led to a circuit shutdown at the Vining Substation, but city crews returned power well before the sun rose.
Steve Franck, electrical superintendent for the City of Powell, said the outage was initially called in around 3:30 a.m. and power was completely restored around 5:30 a.m.
“We were able to turn part of the town back on about 4:15 prior to repairs,” he said.
Franck said a wire had broken at the top of a pole, causing a fault between two phases and shutting down the circuit at the substation.
