Five days before the Wyoming primary election, local sponsors are hoping for a big turnout of candidates at a city park gathering and forum in the Washington Park bandshell on Thursday, Aug. 11.
The event, sponsored by the Powell Economic Partnership and the Powell Tribune, has invited candidates for Wyoming’s U.S. House seat, its statewide offices, state legislative races, county commissioner and Powell city council races. Wyoming’s primary election is Tuesday, Aug. 16.
The afternoon of politics in the park will feature meet-the-candidates activities from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., to be followed by a candidates forum and panel discussions from 3:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. PEP’s annual meeting follows immediately.
In addition to the U.S. House, candidates for governor, secretary of state, state auditor, state treasurer, superintendent of public instruction and State Senate District 19 and State Representative Districts 24, 25 and 50 have been invited, along with contestants for county commissioner and city council (Powell).
