Ball heading to Mount Marty

Trapper guard could have immediate impactCody Ball, a member of the Northwest College Trapper men's basketball team the past two seasons, will continue his playing career at Mount Marty College. Trapper head coach Andy Ward announced that Ball had signed a letter of intent with the NAIA school earlier this week.“The coaching staff was excellent throughout the recruiting process and Cody just felt like he fit in well there,” said Ward. “It is a place he can go and be successful.”Ball, originally from Evanston, led the Trappers in three-point shots this past season. Over the course of the year, Ball drained 34 shots from behind the arc, connecting at better than a 38 percent clip. He played in 29 games for Northwest during his sophomore season, starting 24 of those contests. Ball finished the year averaging 6.5 points per contest. At Mount Marty, Ball should be in the mix to step in and immediately help a young team that posted a 7-24 mark after replacing all five starters and returning just four letterwinners from the previous year. He'll play for Lancer coach Jim Thorson, a 15-year veteran of the Mount Marty bench who has been named coach of the year 11 times on a state, conference or national level. Mount Marty is a member of the Great Plains Athletic Conference, one of the NAIA's premiere sport leagues.
