Northwest College is pleased to announce award-winning photographer Meg Sommers as this year’s judge for the inaugural NWC Photo Contest and Exhibition. A resident of Cody, she has been photographing Yellowstone National Park since 1990, and teaching wildlife photography since 2010 for Yellowstone Forever and Road Scholars.

Sommers’ nature photography covers the full spectrum from landscape and wildlife to flowers. Her passion, however, is to photograph and tell the stories of wildlife, and she has traveled worldwide to seek out new and interesting opportunities to do so.

A grand prize winner in the Wyoming Wildlife photography competition, Sommers recently added to her list of awards by claiming the grand prize in the 2022 Outdoor Photographer’s Wildlife Photo Contest. The international event draws some of the best photographers in the world. In October, Sommers was also featured as a naturalist and professional photographer in a 15-minute video aired on French television about Yellowstone National Park.

The NWC Photo Contest and Exhibition is being held this spring, with a grand opening and awards ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. in SinClair Gallery on the NWC campus. Cash prizes are being awarded to the top three entries in both the amateur and professional categories.

Framed and matted entries must be received between Jan. 16 and 20 and will remain on display from Jan. 31 through March 27.
