The communities of Emblem, Burlington and Otto offered a heartfelt thank you to the dedicated volunteers of their local fire department on Nov. 13.
The first responders on fire and EMS (emergency medical services) answer an average of 75 emergency calls throughout the year.
To celebrate and show appreciation, community members came together to treat the volunteers to one fantastic evening of mouthwatering food, friendship and gifts.
Friendly faces greeted the volunteers, guiding them to the gift table for a goodie bag and a tasty holiday meal. Roast beef, gravy, potato side dishes, salad, homemade rolls and a wide array of desserts quickly disappeared.
The annual event was a real treat for the firemen, EMTs, EMRs (emergency medical responders) and their families. They laughed, shared stories and spent time together in a festive setting.
The organizers went the extra mile to make the celebration memorable. In the spirit of giving, generous businesses and community members donated funds to surprise each volunteer with a Walmart gift card and a gift.
A big thank you goes out to the sponsors of the event: Big Horn REA, TCT, Schlenker Ranch, Greybull Drug, Basin Pharmacy, Road 10 T-shirts, Madonna’s, Pete’s Plumbing, Precision Custom Granite, Gunwerks, Greybull Dental, Fabricius Farms, Pepsi, Dry Creek Store, Murdoch’s, Bryan Neves Vet Services, Copper Corner Cafe, The Burlington Place, Feels Like Home LLC and numerous community members.
Organizers included Denise Ellison, Carol Powers, Dianna Wiles and Susan Neves; and all the community members who cooked the dinner.
