A 21-year-old man died Friday when his side-by-side vehicle crashed in the North Fork area.
Ian Vilkama, of Wheaton, Illinois, had been riding in a field around 11 a.m. when he was ejected from his vehicle, the Park County Sheriff’s Office said. The side-by-side then rolled on top of Vilkama’s unprotected head and chest.
Bystanders removed the vehicle and began CPR — and first responders later continued the efforts to resuscitate Vilkama — but the massive trauma to his head proved fatal, the sheriff’s office said.
Vilkama was riding on property owned by his family. It’s located just north of U.S. Highway 14/16/20 and a little less than a mile east of Four Bear Lane.
