Reps. Hageman and Hunt to headline GOP fundraiser

The Park County Republican Party is preparing to host its marquee fundraising event of the year, a Patriots’ Day Dinner.

With a theme of “Diamonds and Denim,” the event will feature a keynote address from U.S. Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.), who will be accompanied by fellow freshman U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas).

Hunt, who lives in Houston, represents Texas’ newly formed 38th Congressional District.

The Park County GOP event is set for Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Cody Cattle Company. Secretary of State Chuck Gray, Wyoming State Treasurer Curt Meier, Wyoming State GOP Chairman Frank Eathorne and Wyoming State GOP Vice Chairman Dave Holland are all expected to attend.

“This is where the rubber meets the road when you get in front of these people and ask them if they’re doing what you feel like they should be doing,” Nicole Forsberg, who’s helping organize the event, said at a September GOP meeting.

A special VIP meet and greet with Hageman and Hunt is planned from 4-5 p.m. The Cody Cattle Company’s doors will then open at 5 p.m. for cocktails, with a prime rib dinner served at 6 p.m.

There will be live and silent auctions to raise money for the party, as well as a “Cowboy Diamond Drop” featuring a one-carat diamond in a glass of champagne.

“We’re really excited. It’s gonna be a really nice event,” Forsberg said at the meeting. She described the fare “as upscale cowboy cuisine, so you can wear your blue jeans and have a really nice time.”

Dinner tickets are $75 each, while admission to the VIP meet and greet is an additional $75. A preferred table of 10 costs $1,000 (including several bottles of wine) plus a VIP at the table. All of the various ticket options can be purchased online at onecau.se/goppatriotsdinner or by calling Carol Armstrong at 307-587-6192.

The Patriots’ Day Dinner will also honor the late Sherry Johnson of Meeteetse. A longtime supporter of the Park County GOP, Johnson was serving as the party’s state committeewoman at the time of her death last year.

“I can’t think of anybody better that we should honor,” Forsberg said.

The cutoff date for ticket purchases is Friday. No tickets will be sold at the door.
