LeRoy C. Feusner, P.E., of Billings, Montana, has been posthumously honored with the NCEES Distinguished Examination Service Award for his dedicated service to NCEES and the engineering profession. LeRoy’s daughters, Kristi and Katreena, accepted the award on his behalf at the organization’s 102nd annual meeting in Boston, Massachusetts, on Aug. 17.
Feusner was a leader and prolific contributor to engineering licensure exam development for almost three decades.
Feusner became a volunteer with the Principles and Practice of Engineering Environmental Exam Development Committee in 1992. He was an active exam item writer and item reviewer in the area of hazardous waste.
In 1992, he was selected by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, now known as the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists, as one of 20 professional environmental engineers nationally to meet with NCEES to define and establish an engineering examination scope of work for the practice of environmental engineering.
He held four positions during a 30-year career with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality as a chemical/environmental engineer. Feusner retired from the state of Wyoming in 2009.
With a reputation for service, Feusner, who passed away in September 2022, is remembered for his distinguished commitment to advancing engineering licensure.
