Mike Asay was born to Darwin Keith and Elizabeth (Betty) Asay on March 19, 1961, in Powell. He was the fifth child born into the family.
He was raised in Powell and attended Powell schools. He was an accomplished swimmer and diver for the Powell High School swim team, and some of his diving records still stand to this day.
He went to work in the oil fields of Wyoming, Colorado, Montana, Colorado and Utah, where he roughnecked, drilled and was a rig manager for several different drilling contractors.
He married Kristie Gunderson, and they had a son, Spencer Keith Asay. The couple later divorced, and Spencer attended schools in Billings, Montana.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Keith, and his two sisters, Sarepta (Seppie) and Saralie Asay.
Mike is survived by son Spencer and his wife Clarissa and granddaughter Claudia; mother, Elizabeth (Betty); brothers, Gary and his wife Dorene Asay, and Darwin (Doc) and his wife Cathy Asay; his longtime fiancee, Kathy Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at this time.
