February happenings at the library

Park County Library is pleased to announce one of our favorite authors, Craig Johnson, will be visiting our libraries in February. Craig Johnson will be at the Powell Library on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m. In addition to speaking about his books and travels, Craig Johnson will also be on hand to sign books and have merchandise for sale. 

Park County Libraries is once again celebrating Winter Reading. Go to any Park County Library to participate. Sign-ups are not required; the Winter Reading Challenge runs from Jan. 17-Feb. 29  for all ages. Just read a book, fill out an entry slip with your name for a chance to win a prize. The more you read the more chances you have of winning a prize.            

Don’t forget to check out the new Powell Storywalk located at Homesteader Park and read a story as you enjoy the crisp February weather. 

Also, if anyone is homebound the library offers Books Beyond Boundaries, a service to deliver books to homebound residents. Contact the library for more information. 

Family Movie Night will be on Thursday, Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. Come join the library for a fun family movie with popcorn provided. 

Join us on Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. with certified yoga instructor Martine Grant for Chair Yoga for Adults. 

Join us on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. as local author, journalist and sheep rancher Cat Urbigkit visits the Powell Library. Come learn about guardian animals and rural life. 

Join us for Make-Up with Meghann on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. and learn to professionally apply makeup. 

Sign up for our Tuesday Book Discussion and join us on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. where we will be discussing “The Flatshare” by Beth O’Leary. We also offer an evening book discussion on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at 6 p.m. We will be discussing “The Chestnut Man” by Soren Sveistrup. 

Join us for Adult Craft Night on Thursday, Feb. 15 at 6 p.m. to make Horseshoe Suncatchers.

Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday with Chris. Sign up for a one-on-one session with the Park County Library IT administrator who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on Feb. 20 and sign ups are required. 

Drop in for the next Wyoming Library to Business webinar on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. on Smartphone Photography.  

Wyoming Game and Fish will be visiting the Powell Library on Thursday, Feb. 22 at 6 p.m. for a presentation on laws and regulations. Game warden Jordan Winter will be on hand to provide information and answer any questions you may have. 

On Monday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. come join for an Introduction to Family History Workshop. This is a great chance to learn how to research your family history hosted by Larry and Maureen Akin.

Families join us for Homeschool Hour on Monday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. Come to the library and connect with other homeschool families and focus on the topic of art for the month.

We have a lot of fun activities planned for teens after school. Every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. join us for Young Adult Craft Time and every Friday at 2 p.m. for early release activities. Stop by the library, check out our social media pages or calendar on our website to learn more about the activities for the week. 

Powell Library has lots of fun-filled activities for children. Join Ms. Renee every Monday and Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for Baby & Toddler Time and every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. for Story Time. Sign up for Read to a Dog on Monday, Feb. 5 at 3:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 3:15 p.m. Join us for Homeschool Hour centered around art on Monday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m.  Kids in first-fifth grade can sign up for Winter Book Club, we meet on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:15 p.m. Come to the Powell Library to get your book and sign up.

Stop by Saturday, Feb. 3, from 10-1 p.m. and every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for the Powell Library Friends Book Sale. Stop by and take home as many books as you can and support the Powell Library. Also, if you’re interested in helping out with book sales and supporting the library, consider joining the Friends of the Library.

Please remember all Park County Libraries will be closed Monday, Feb. 19 in honor of Presidents Day.
