Partridge, Morse in action this week

Powell’s Chase Partridge and Brian Morse will be back in action in their respective sports this week after being selected to participate the Wyoming Coaches Association All-Star week. Partridge will represent the North team as part of the North-South boys’ basketball contest. Morse was named an all-star in golf and will spend part of the week competing against other top performers from across the state.

Partridge was one of 10 players named to the North roster in basketball. After a record-setting career for the Panthers, the future Rocky Mountain College product will join Cody’s Brady Gulde and Lovell’s Colin May to help give the North side a strong Big Horn Basin representation.

Others selected to the team are Midwest’s Adam Van Norman, Wright’s Timmy Benedict, Buffalo’s Caleb Rodriguez, Sheridan’s Hunter Lee Reece, Casper Natrona’s Cory Peck, Tongue River’s Stephen Yellowtail and Glenrock’s Taylor Millay. The North team will be coached by Powell head coach Mike Heny and assisted by the Panthers’ Waleryan Wisniewski and Rocky Mountain’s Michael Simmons.

The South team features Evanston’s Rocco O’Neill and Tyler Chandler, Little Snake River’s Rex Paul Stanley and Daniel Wille, Wyoming Indian’s John Soundingsides, Laramie’s Tate Hilgenkamp, Wheatland’s Ryan Madsen and David Nelson, Rock Springs’ Chase Riley and Saratoga’s Thomas Koenig.

The teams will begin practicing on Wednesday at Casper College. The game will take place at approximately 5 p.m., capping a three-game day that will start at 1 p.m. with the North-South volleyball game and be followed at 3 p.m. by the North-South girls’ basketball showdown.

Morse will be joined by Casper’s Conner Morton, Kemmerer’s Erron Hopkins, Lander’s Joseph McGowan and Big Horn’s Bryce Williams.

All five golfers will begin play on Wednesday at Casper’s Three Crowns Golf Course. From there, play continues Thursday at the Douglas Golf Course. On Friday, the group tees off at Casper Municipal before wrapping up the week with a Saturday round at the Casper Golf Course.

Morse is now the third Panther golfer in as many years to be selected for the WCA all-star week.
