The Powell High School tennis team found some success at a weekend tournament in Sheridan.
The PHS girls collected 12 wins against six losses and six ties, according to results provided by coach Ray Bieber.
In A girls singles competition, Hattie Pimentel tied with Natrona County’s Kristen Cooper, 3-3, then beat Natrona County’s Leslie Brisco and Sheridan’s Jillian Stalker by 4-2 margins.
In B1 girls singles, Olivia Hobby lost to Sheridan’s Allanah Friday 4-2, defeated Sheridan’s Olivia Thoney 5-1, then played to a 3-3 draw with Lacey Smith of Cody and Aerianna Roth of Sheridan.
In B2 girls singles, Sarah Rich lost 6-1 to Katelyn Kayser of Sheridan, 5-2 to Mary Anne Herrera of Hardin, Mont., and 5-2 to Kate Arneson of Sheridan.
Playing the A doubles bracket, Emily Herman and Breanna Donarski won 6-4 over Natrona County opponents, then tied with Sheridan and Kelly Walsh.
Kaylee Meyer and Lauren Asher lost 7-3 to Kelly Walsh, beat Natrona County opponents 6-4 and lost 6-4 to Sheridan.
In B1 doubles, Keegan McLain and Georgi Kisgen beat opponents from Kelly Walsh (4-2), Natrona County (5-1) and Hardin (4-2) to earn a match-up with teammates Mellissa Kellett and Tessa Eller. Kellett and Eller ended up besting McLain and Kisgen, 4-2.
Playing in the B2 bracket, Kellett and Eller beat Hardin opponents 5-1, Sheridan 4-2 and tied with Cody 3-3 before playing the inter-squad match.
In C doubles competition, Emily McCaslin and Sam Becker beat opponents from Natrona County 6-1, Sheridan 4-3, and two separate Kelly Walsh teams by 6-1 and 5-2 margins.
Meanwhile, the PHS boys had six wins, seven losses and five ties in their matches, the results say.
Rhett Pimentel defeated Andrew Halverson of Green River 6-2, tied with Hunter Kuhn of Natrona County 4-4 and beat Kelly Walsh’s Drew Fitzler 7-1 in the A1 singles bracket.
James Sheets, playing in A2 singles, lost 5-3 to Miles Langmade of Natrona County, beat Lyle Kruse of Kelly Walsh, then lost 5-3 to Matt Paris, also of Kelly Walsh.
In the B1 singles bracket, Mikel Peterson lost 6-2 to Austin Yarlott of Hardin, 5-3 to Hayden Blase of Kelly Walsh and tied 4-4 with Nathan Gifford of Cody.
Wade Musso and Tanner Barngrover played in the A doubles bracket. They lost 8-5 to Green River opponents and 9-4 to Sheridan before beating Hardin 9-4.
Noah Fulton and Adam Griffin, at B doubles, lost 6-4 to a duo from Hardin, then tied 5-5 with different opponents from Sheridan and Hardin.
In C doubles action, Nathaniel Whitham and Cade Lamoureux beat Natrona County opponents 6-2, tied 4-4 with Sheridan, then beat a Natrona County/Kelly Walsh team 5-3.
A little earlier in the spring season, playing at home on April 21, the PHS boys bested by Cody in 11 of 14 matches.
Rhett Pimentel beat Joe Heudde 6-4, lost in a 7-6 tiebreaker to Evan Wambeke, then beat Gaston Osterland 6-1.
Sheets lost 6-4 to Wambeke, before taking a 7-6 tiebreaker over Osterland and a 6-4 win over Heudde.
In doubles action, Miles Rumbolz and Tanner Barngrover won 6-3.
Garret and Wade Musso, meanwhile, took a 6-2 and a 6-4 decision.
Griffin and Fulton picked up 6-2 and 6-0 victories.
A mix of Lamoureux, Whitham and Peterson won 6-2 and lost 6-1.
The PHS girls, meanwhile, took 11 of 18 matches from Cody.
In singles play, Madi Morrow lost 6-4 to Cody’s Meg Dickerman, then beat Elisha Smith 6-2.
Hattie Pimentel lost 6-1 to Dickerman before beating Smith 6-0.
Kellett lost 6-0 to Smith.
In doubles play, Kisgen and Eller won twice: 6-0 and 6-1. Meyer and Asher took 6-4 and a 6-3 victories.
Donarski and Herman won 6-2, were edged 7-5, then won 6-0.
McLain and Maria Kissner lost 6-4 and won 7-5.
Rich and Becker swept their first opponents 6-0 before having the favor returned.
Madison Riedinger and McCaslin lost 6-2 before bouncing back to win by the same score.
Madisen McDonald and Hobby lost 6-1 and 6-3.
Playing in a round robin tournament against Riverton High School on April 18, the PHS girls won six of the seven matches they played against the Lady Wolverines.
Morrow won 8-2 in the lone singles match, against Alyssa McDonald.
In doubles action, Becker and McCaslin won 6-0. Becker also teamed with Madisen McDonald for a 6-3 win while McCaslin joined with Riedinger and lost 8-6.
Riedinger and Sam Jeide won 8-6. Kellett and Rich similarly won 6-4 and Rich and Georgi Kisgen won 6-0.
In the overall tournament, which included inter-squad play, a number of Panther and Lady Panthers athletes posted winning records.
Morrow, Hattie Pimentel, Rhett Pimentel, Whitham and Becker each went a perfect 3-0 in their matches. Kissner, Kellett and Madisen McDonald all went 2-0.
Griffin, Musso and Sheets, meanwhile, each posted 3-1 records.
McLain and Rich each won two matches against one loss.
