Virginia Doris Erickson of Greeley, Colo., died Nov. 11, 2011 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was 94.
She was born Aug. 24, 1917 in Miller, S.D. to Daniel and Emma (Cross) Moore.
Virginia married Carl Garfield Erickson on Sept. 27, 1939 in Greeley.
She was a loving and caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother in-law, grandmother, aunt and friend. Of her 94 years she spent 74 of those years in Colorado.
She graduated with honors from Bellefonte High School in Bellefonte, Ark. She was a long time member of Crossroads Christian Church. Being the oldest member, she loved her church family. She was a charter member of Barnsville Community Club. Virginia was a seamstress, quilter and enjoyed needlework. Her talent was enjoyed by many family members, friends and her customers. Her sewing machine was more than 50 years old.
Her family was her first love. She was proud of living to see five generations. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. Many who ate at her table loved her meals and pies, including her husband’s hired men. She enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, pie making and cards with her friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Carlene (Robert) Fry of Ralston, and Glenda (Douglas) Cazer of Eaton, Colo.; sons, Merlyn (Elaine) of Greeley and Glen (Linda) of Haiti; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gar; grandson, Wesley Allen Erickson; great-grandson Jeffery Allen Fry; brothers, Wallace, James, Floyd and Alfred Moore; two sisters, Helen Harris and Clara Harvey; wonderful brothers and sisters in-law.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Adamson Chapel in Greeley. Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 16 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Greeley, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Christian Church, 3451 23rd Avenue Evans, CO.
