Marlea Cauffman died Sept. 7, 2011, at West Park Hospital in Cody. She was 59.

Marlea was born Dec. 2, 1951 in Laramie, the second daughter of Herb and Annabelle McIntosh.

Growing up just south of Burlington on her grandparents Fon and Berenice McIntosh’s farm brought many years of joy and happiness.

Marlea met her future husband and love of her life at a dance after a basketball game. Boy were they smitten.

Marlea Samantha McIntosh and Kenneth Raymond Cauffman were wed in St. Anthony, Idaho on June 22, 1967.

Marlea and Ken spent most of their life right here in the Big Horn Basin; jobs came and went, but they always found their way back.

Marlea had many talents, and most of her talents were a passion. She enjoyed gardening, beadwork, knitting, weaving, spinning wool, canning, painting, cooking and making jewelry, along with nature, wildlife, Native American culture, Native American flute music and just plain good music.

She also enjoyed goats, alpacas, birds, horses, her three dogs and all other critters, big and small. Her ultimate enjoyment was her husband, children, grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Marlea is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kenneth of Burlington; sons Raymond (Dory) Cauffman of Burlington, Terry (Francine) Cauffman of Emblem; daughters Kelly (Lee) Allen of Meeteetse, Samantha Cauffman of Burlington, Melodie (Doug) Allen of Burlington; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sister Patti (Don) Hufford; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marlea was preceded in death by her infant son, nephew Travis Aagard, parents Herb and Annabelle and grandparents.

Services were held Monday at the LDS Church in Burlington.

A memorial fund will be set up at Security State Bank in Basin for the Burlington Emergency Services in Marlea’s name.

Ballard Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
