Kenneth Cook of Burlington died Tuesday, July 26, 2011 after a six-month battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
He was born on Oct. 28, 1935 in Burlington. His parents were Donald Sylvester Cook and Geneva Marie Aagard.
Kenneth served a mission for the LDS Church from January 1957 through July 1959. He was in the National Guard from 1959 through 1962. He married Connie R. Christopherson on Feb. 6, 1961 in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. He was the father of six children: Myron, Sonja, Elaine, Elgin, Galen and TaMara.
He was a farmer, teacher, beekeeper and custodian for the LDS Church.
He helped get the town of Burlington incorporated and was mayor for 11 years. Later he served as Burlington city council member. He served in the Billings Temple for four years and served as scout master for 12 years. Recently, he served as counselor in the bishopric and ward clerk.
Kenneth was a kind and caring person who loved and served his family and many others.
He is survived by his wife, Connie; son Myron (Merlaine) Cook of Keller, Texas; daughter Sonja (Kemp) Petersen of Kelso, Wash.; daughter, Elaine (Dan) Flores of Burlington; son Elgin (Melissa) Cook of Thorne Bay, Alaska; son, Galen (Maggie) Cook of Billings; daughter TaMara (Bruce) Robertson of Worland; brother James (Donna) Cook of Burlington; sister Donna (Neil) Stanger of Burlington; 24 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Ai Deloss Cook and Maude J Hardee; James Aagard and Annie Winter; and parents, Donald and Geneva Cook.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 30 at the Burlington LDS Church. Burial was in the Burlington Cemetery. Haskell Funeral Home in Lovell was in charge. Condolences may be sent to www.haskellfuneralhome.com.
