Darvin D. Dietz died Monday, April 11 in Cody. He was 66.

Born April 1, 1945, Darvin grew up in Powell and was the valedictorian of the Powell High School class of 1963. He went to the University of Wyoming and graduated with a civil engineering degree. He married Diane Heny in 1966 and raised two children in Powell.

He went to work for Lee Graham in Cody and after a few years he bought into the firm and it became Graham, Dietz and Associates. Darvin owned and operated the firm for several years and was instrumental in the design and construction of several projects in the Big Horn Basin. He worked for and owned that engineering firm located on Stampede Avenue for his entire career. In addition to his primary career he served on the Shoshone First Bank board of directors for several years.  Upon retirement, he spent time primarily ranching and training horses.

In his spare time he would spend time with family enjoying activities such as hunting, reading and horseback riding.  He is survived by his son, Dustin Dietz; daughter, Dana Thorington; five grandchildren, Jessie, Dalton, Hartly, Addison and Wyatt; and by his fiancé, Lynn Kondash and her three sons Taylor, Ryan and Austin. No funeral services will be held.
