Joy Minard Mulholland, 66, died Sunday, July 12 at the Powell Valley Care Center.

She was born Jan. 28, 1943 in Thermopolis to Lloyd Minard and Dorthea Dimps Willey.

Joy graduated from high school in Billings. She married the love of her life, Larry Mulholland, on Jan. 3, 1966. Joy and Larry had two children, Kimberly and Phillip. In addition to her biological children, Joy claimed countless other children and adults as her own.

Joy was a woman of many interests. She loved traveling, reading, listening to music, e-mailing her many friends all over the United States and beyond, researching her family’s genealogy, remodeling her homes, riding her horses and giving back to the community. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Joy touched the lives of many that came into contact with her through her giving nature and willingness to help those in need.

She served as town council-woman in her beloved town of Byron. She loved to learn and completed many hours of coursework in various areas, including teaching, real estate and nursing assistance. Of her many professions, Joy enjoyed waitressing most of all. Her outgoing nature and love for meeting new people made it a perfect fit for her.

Joy is survived by her husband, Larry of Byron; her two children, Kimberly (Stacey) Lesher of Byron and Phillip (Holley) Mulholland of Powell; a sister, Anne Minard of Missoula, Mont; and six grandchildren, Conner, Tyler, Tory, Tristan, Hunter and Caden.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Minard; her mother, Dorthea Dimps Willey; her sister, Sandra Nelson; and her best friend, Jacque Biesemeier.

Memorial services will take place Saturday, July 18 at 10 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody.
