Memorial services for Gene Garrison, 70, Powell, will be conducted Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at Union Presbyterian Church. He died Saturday, July 5 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings, Mont.

Gene was born Oct. 12, 1937, in Powell to Melvin Garrison and Dorthy (Christensen) Garrison. He graduated from Powell High School in 1955.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in December of 1955 and served four years as an airplane mechanic aboard the aircraft carrier, “Shangri-La.”

He married Donna Davis of Moorcroft on Dec. 29, 1962. To this union, two children were born: Donny and Jeannie.

Gene spent most of life working road construction as a finish blade operator.

He loved his family, cherished his many friends and took great pride in restoring old cars and building and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife, Donna of Powell; son, Donny of Powell; daughter Jeannie Cunningham (Brian) of Powell; and a son by a previous marriage.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and step-father.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home.
