Cody businessman Galen Beardall, 57, died Friday, Dec. 15 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Feb. 28, 1949, in Rexburg, Idaho, to John and Dorothy Beardall. He graduated from Madison High School in Rexburg in 1967 and attended Ricks College for a year before marrying Vicki Waters. They later divorced in 1987.

He worked for the sugar factory in Idaho before joining the National Guard. He then was employed by Ray’s Tires in Idaho, beginning his long career in the tire business. He was part ofthe National Guard when it was called upon to help in the Teton Dam flood disaster in 1976.

He worked at Ray’s Tires until 1984 when he moved to Wyoming and purchased Coombs Tire in Powell. The tire business in Powell lasted only a year and a half before he went to work for Rimrock Tire in Cody. In 1997, he started his own business, Bear Co. Tire, with his sons.

Galen was an avid fly fisherman, hiker, hunter and outdoorsman. He loved spending time with his family on picnics and campouts.

He was a member of the LDS Church and took pride in his family heritage. He was proud of his grandchildren and enjoyed playing with them and teaching them.

His family will remember him as an honest man who enjoyed more than anything spending time with friends and family and bringing smiles to their faces. He loved people and working with them.

He is survived by sons Dallas (Courtney) Beardall, Justin (Jennifer) Beardall, Ryan (Heather) Beardall; daughter Shannon (Tony) Siebert; brother Darwin (Julie) Beardall; siser Myrna (Les) VanOrden; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are set Thursday, Dec. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Wyoming Avenue LDS Church in Cody. A viewing will take place Wednesday, Dec. 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Ballard Funeral Home and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. ahead of the service Thursday. Burial will be in Rexburg, Idaho Friday, Dec. 22.
