Funeral services are scheduled Thursday, Aug. 15 at 11 a.m. at the Manderson Community Bible Church for Denny Paul Spann, 53, of Lovell, who died at North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell Monday, Aug. 12 after a short battle with cancer.

The Rev. Jerry Fuller will officiate at services. Burial will follow at the Mount View Cemetery in Basin.

Mr. Spann was born Nov. 23, 1948, in Basin, son of Sterling LeRoy and Ruth Helen Spann. He graduated from Manderson-Hyattville High School and then attended Casper College and the University of Wyoming.

He married Carol Smith on Aug. 8, 1979. They were later divorced, but remained best friends.

He farmed a few years at Manderson and then owned and operated a lounge at Lovell.

He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing antiques and was a "jack of all trades."

Survivors include his mother, Ruth Spann of Manderson; his best friend, Carol Spann of Lovell; his two sons, Kelly Spann and wife Angie of Lovell and Kevin Spann and wife Dana of Byron; his daughter, Teri Winland and husband Tim of Lovell; one sister, Dee Ann Thorne and husband Robert of Worland; one brother, Dale Spann and wife Karin of Sheridan; three grandsons, one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday at the church in Manderson one-half hour prior to services. A memorial fund has been established at Security State Bank, P.O. Box 531, Basin, WY 82410, to go to the Northern Rockies Cancer Center in Cody.

Atwood Family Funeral Directors, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
