A memorial service was held Sept. 18 at the First Baptist Church in Lovell for Kenneth Darrell Yonts, 52, Byron, who died Sept. 13 at his home.

The son of Erma Yonts of Lovell and Darrell Yonts of Basin, he was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Kindersley, Saskatchewan, Canada. He moved at an early age to Wyoming where he was raised and educated.

He graduated from Lovell High School in 1968. He joined the National Guard for six years, and during that time, he graduated from barber college in Salt Lake City, Utah. He moved to Cody and worked as a barber for the next five years.

After returning to Lovell, he worked two campaigns at the Great Western Sugar factory before going to work at Georgia-Pacific for a short time. He was then employed by American Colloid for several years before moving on to bartending in and around Lovell.

He married Pam Sparks in Cody in 1972. They later divorced. They had two children, Kris Yonts, 28, and Karly Yonts, 23.

He had many interests and hobbies, including hunting during his younger years. He followed the Denver Broncos religiously, and he also participated in many dart leagues. Above all, he loved being with his family. Survivors include his parents; his two children, Kris Yonts and wife Becky and sole grandchild, Michael, of Sydney, Mont., and Karly Yonts and fiance Kirk Stone of Rock Springs; one brother, Denny Yonts of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Sandy Wirth and husband Ron of Ferron, Utah; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. Burial of cremains will occur at a future date.
