Susan Milligan, 67, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away peacefully in her home on July 5, 2016. She fought a courageous, tough, nine-month battle against pancreatic cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

Susan was born Feb. 23, 1949, in Fort Collins, Colorado, to Albert and Ann Kamm. As an infant, Susan and her family moved to Powell, Wyoming, where she grew up and later graduated from Powell High School.

Susan returned to Fort Collins to meet and ultimately marry the love of her life, Don Milligan on Sept. 1, 1973, at the Oval of Colorado State University.

Susan earned her bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Wyoming and worked as teacher before attending University of Northern Colorado to obtain her Bachelors of Science in Nursing. She furthered her education yet a few years later, receiving a Master’s of Science in Nursing Education from University of Northern Colorado. Susan was a dedicated and passionate employee at Poudre Valley Hospital for 29 years, working as a pediatric nurse and later as Coordinator of Patient and Community Health Education. While Susan was passionate about teaching and helping others, she loved her family even more.

Susan loved travel and camping, one of her favorite things was to get away to the mountains with her husband and family to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air. Susan was always a supportive mother, encouraging her three children in all of their activities.

Best of all, Susan was most proud of her three beautiful grandchildren, who brought her endless joy over the past nine years. Susan was also known for her unbelievable talent and gift in crafts and quilting. Those around her were often rewarded by receiving the beautiful result of hours and hours of her work in a cherished quilt.

Susan is survived by her husband of almost 43 years, Don; her children Heather Milligan of Santa Monica, CA, Casey Milligan of Loveland, CO, Robin Pantusa and husband Rich Pantusa of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Aubrey, Lauren and Hunter Pantusa of Colorado Springs; brother Bill Kamm of Eaton, CO; sister Shirley Thompson of Rochester, NY; and mother-in-law Jerri Milligan of Chadron, Nebraska.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Albert and Ann Kamm; sister, Marilyn Halvorsen; brother, Jim Kamm; and father-in-law, Jack Milligan.

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 15, at 5 p.m. at Ellis Ranch in Loveland, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the following: Pathways Hospice, Cancer Center of the Rockies, PVH-MCR Foundation in memory of Susan Milligan, donations will benefit the education of chronic disease management.
