Rex William Cozzens, a husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother and friend, died March 8, 2014, at the New Horizons Care Center in Lovell, surrounded by family. He was 77.

Rex was born in Lovell on June 4, 1936, to Ivan Rex and Kate Nicholls Cozzens.

Rex was a 1954 graduate of Deaver High School.

In 1959 he met and married the love of his life, Ruby (Sykes) Cozzens. Together they had a son, Lewis Mark Cozzens of Cody.

At that time, Rex worked at a service station owned by his brother Charles in Riverton. He then worked for Gilpatrick Construction in Basin and then Barling Construction in Jackson before moving to Powell where he drove truck for Dick Jones for 10 years.

He then started hauling livestock across the country for Ken R Mangus Trucking. During that time the decision was made to move to the Cozzens family farm west of Deaver where the family stayed for nine years. While on the farm he also worked for American Colloid where he became the field superintendent for several years.

Rex and Ruby moved to Cowley in 1983, where their home is today. His final years of employment were with GK Construction of Lovell, where he stayed for 20 years until his retirement shortly after he turned 70 years young.

Driving truck was a true passion for him.

For those who knew Rex, he would do anything at any time to help with whatever needs anybody had. Above all, he always had a happy and witty humor.

He loved when there were family events; family meant everything to him. He will be missed by many.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife Ruby; son Mark (Leanne); brothers Ronnie (Sue) and Kent; and sisters JoAnn (Phillip) Wagner and Judy (Jack) Cregger; grandkids Christopher (Amy), Corey (Kimberly), Mandy (Jake) Miller; and three great-grandkids Kobee, Joseph and Carter.

At his request there will be no services. Cremation will take place with a celebration of life by the family and friends at a later date.

Haskell Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
