Ten bison from a state-owned herd in Thermopolis will be auctioned off in early January.
“Every year we sell 10-14 animals to keep the herd manageable,” said Gary Schoene, public information officer with Wyoming State Parks & Cultural Resources. “Also, we only need so many bulls.”
Written bids will be accepted for the following bison from Hot Springs State Park:
All animals have all been properly vaccinated. Minimum bids are as follows: $1,400 for 2019 calves and $1,800 for yearling bulls.
Written bids will be accepted at the Hot Springs State Park office in Thermopolis until 5 p.m. on Jan. 7.
Bids will be accepted for any or all of the bison.
Each animal offered will be sold to the highest bidder, subject to the minimum bid specified in the sales list provided by the state. Buyers may begin picking up their animals on Jan. 10.
The state will not provide delivery services.
