The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) recently hired a pair of contractors to resurface a stretch of highway in western Big Horn County and to chip seal various roads around the Big Horn Basin.
McGarvin-Moberly Construction Co., of Worland, was the low bidder on a $1.6 million project to repave 6 miles of U.S. Highway 310 between Cowley and Deaver in Big Horn County.
Crews will perform a mill and overlay to smooth out the surface by eliminating the cracks. WYDOT said it’s doing the work “to improve the surface for the traveling public.” The contract completion date is Oct. 31.
In other local projects, the Wyoming Transportation Commission awarded a $1.4 million contract to Mountain Construction Co., of Lovell, for chip sealing and miscellaneous work at various locations in Park, Big Horn, Hot Springs and Washakie counties. Mountain Construction needs to finish the job by Sept. 30.
The largest job awarded at the commission’s Jan. 21 meeting was a $2.1 million contract to Reiman Corp., of Cheyenne. The company will repair three bridges on Interstate 25 in the Cheyenne area and work on a pedestrian overpass and bridge on the South Greeley Highway.
The commission awarded six contracts totaling $8.6 million.
