The winner of a special handcrafted Powell Panther-themed knife will be revealed at halftime of Friday night’s Powell High School football game.
The knife is being raffled off as a fundraiser for a new William “Bill” McRann Panther Pride Scholarship Fund. Named after longtime PHS art instructor Bill McRann, the scholarship will be awarded to qualifying PHS art students who are continuing their art education at Northwest College. The fund is being established by the PHS Class of 1969 as a 50-year anniversary project.
McRann’s son Mike will be in attendance at Friday’s football game against Douglas to draw the winning raffle ticket.
One of McRann’s former students, custom knife maker Dennis Friedly of Cody, crafted the Panther Pride blade with scrimshaw artist Linda Karst Stone.
