Virginia Evans Schrader, 73, of Bay Point retirement village in Panama City, Fla., died Sunday, June 26 at her home, with her husband and children by her side.

Born in Powell, she attended Park College in Missouri, where she met her husband of 54 years, Robert G. Schrader. They have been associated with Bay Point for 25 years and moved there 15 years ago when her husband retired.

Affectionately known as “Ginny,” she shared her talents and abilities in many groups and organizations. She sang in church choirs, Sweet Adelines, and was active in choral and symphony societies in Wyoming, Kentucky, and Panama City.

She was Past Grand Guardian of Job’s Daughters in Wyoming. She was an active member of P.E.O, and a member and past president of the Bay Point Women’s Club. She was previously employed as a bank officer and a hospital public information officer in Cheyenne.

If something needed to be done in the community, she was always the cheerleader and motivator and inspired others so that it was accomplished. She was loved by everyone who met her because of her caring nature, vibrant personality, energy, and enthusiastic love of life.

She is survived by her husband, Robert; three children, Robert M. Schrader and wife Paula of Crestview, Fla.; Andrew G. Schrader of Panama City, Fla.; and Amy Ann Ball and husband Charlie of Lexington, Ky.; and six grandchildren, James Schrader, Julia Schrader, and Jesse Schrader of Crestview, Fla.; Jennifer Schrader Metz of Ft. Campbell, Ky.; Sharon Ball and Chaussy Ball of Lexington, Ky.; and her sister, Jane Taube in Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Melvin Evans and Agnes Evans Brower; and her brother, Jesse Melvin (Jock) Evans Jr.

A “Celebration of Life” memorial was held on the Bay Point Yacht Club grounds Wednesday, June 29. Rev. Jim Stansbury of the Gulf Beach Presbyterian Church officiated. For those who wish, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice or the ALS Foundation.
