Veterans’ graves to receive wreaths, volunteers needed

Posted

National Wreaths Across America Day 2025 is Saturday, Dec. 13. Due to the generosity of many individuals and groups, 701 veteran wreaths have been sponsored through the Powell American Legion Auxiliary’s sponsorship group. That means every veteran laid to rest at Crown Hill Cemetery will receive a wreath this year, in remembrance and honor of their service.

Wreaths Across America ceremonies will occur around the country at more than 5,200 participating locations in all 50 states on this special day. Anyone can be part of this event.

All are invited to attend a brief wreath laying ceremony at the American Legion Wall of Honor, 143 S. Clark Street in Powell, at 11:30 a.m. Coordinators and volunteers will then proceed to Crown Hill Cemetery (678 Lane 9) for veteran grave wreath placement. Volunteers will be given a clip board with instruction, map, and names of veterans to receive a wreath. Any individual or group who would like to participate is welcome.

The American Legion Auxiliary appreciates and thanks everyone who purchased wreaths, and appreciates help to lay the wreaths at Crown Hill Cemetery.

For more information, contact Ruth Ross, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 26 President, on 307-202-8377.
