The Sheridan VA Health Care System team is scheduling COVID-19 vaccination appointments by calling veterans who are 75 years and older who receive VA healthcare — this includes veterans who receive VA care in Cody, Worland, Afton, Casper, Evanston, Gillette, Riverton, Rock Springs and Sheridan.
Due to vaccine stock and requirements for safe storage, VA staff are directly contacting VA-enrolled veterans of that age group to offer appointments, as available, in each of the locations. Healthcare personnel are holding vaccination clinics on specific dates at all of the health care system locations on a rotating basis.
The Sheridan VA Health Care System is using the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, which involves two doses spread 28 days apart. Shipments of the vaccine have been arriving at the Sheridan VA pharmacy since Dec. 22, and veterans are being called for appointments based on CDC-recommended phases. As more vaccines arrive, the patient list will expand. All enrolled veterans who are interested in receiving the vaccine will eventually be able to get it once the supply to administer it arrives, the VA says.
There is no signup process for the vaccine. However, veterans who would like to share their interest in receiving the vaccine can visit www.va.gov/health-care/covid-19-vaccine/stay-informed and fill out a form. VA healthcare personnel may use that interest list to fill appointments when someone fails to show up, so no vaccine is wasted.
Veterans who are not enrolled in VA healthcare are invited to contact the eligibility and enrollment team at 307-672-3473, then option 4, or visit www.va.gov/health-care/apply/application.
