Powell High School wrestling coach Nate Urbach has been named the 2012 Class 3A wrestling coach of the year by the Wyoming Coaches Association. The organization announced the award on Thursday, April 5.
Urbach helped direct the Panthers to a state championship this past February. Powell crowned a pair of state champions in 145-pounder Waylon Bays and 160-pounder Olie Olson. The team also produced what is believed to be a school record 15 wrestlers to place in the top six of this year’s state championships.

Other coaches honored in wrestling were Cokeville’s Martin Linford in 2A and Campbell County’s Tom Seaman in 4A. Campbell County’s Scott Alderlings was named the assistant coach of the year.
Lovell’s Chris Edwards was honored as the 2A girls basketball coach of the year. Edwards was the only other basin coach honored for the winter season.

Swimming — Bruce Gresly, Lander, and Josh Bott, Campbell County.
Girls basketball — Jodi Stanley, Little Snake River; Chris Edwards, Lovell; Bard Phifer, Wheatland; and Rod Tyson, Laramie. Lander’s Mike Ragan was named the assistant coach of the year.
Indoor track — Bruce Mowry, Cheyenne Central, and Casey Steele, Cheyenne East. Steve Oldenburg, Campbell County, was named assistant coach of the year.
