Two Big Horn Basin residents were killed in a Wednesday morning crash north of Worland.
The crash occurred when a 2006 Jeep Liberty headed southbound on U.S. Highway 20 crossed into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a 1992 Chevrolet 2500, according to a news release from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.
The highway patrol was notified of the crash at 6:18 a.m. Wednesday.
The driver of the Jeep has been identified as Marian Duda, 70, of Greybull. Duda was wearing a seat belt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as 47-year-old Worland resident Javier Mendoza. Mendoza was not wearing a seat belt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.
The crash is still under investigation, the patrol said in a news release last week.
The fatalities are the 38th and 39th on Wyoming’s roadways in 2020, compared to 72 a year ago at this time. There were 42 in 2018, and 58 in 2017 to date.
