Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. at Union Presbyterian Church in Powell for Travis Jean (T.J.) Onstine, 24, who died Saturday, Aug. 17 in a one-vehicle rollover southwest of Powell.
The Rev. David Hunter will officiate at services. Burial of cremains will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
He was born June 24, 1978, in Powell, to Freddie N. and Ronda S. (King) Onstine. He completed his early schooling in Gillette and then moved to Powell to enter high school, beginning with his freshman year. He graduated from Powell High School in 1996.
He then entered military service, graduating from Army basic training in the fall of 1996. He was stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., a Specialist E-2 in the 1st Batallion, 40th Field Artillery, operating the Multiple Rocket Launching System (MRLS). He served three years and returned to Powell in 1999.
He found satisfaction in his employment as a resident care giver at Big Horn Enterprises group home in Powell.
As a youngster and young adult, he enjoyed baseball, basketball, track, 4-wheeling and music. He was a car enthusiast and was fond of derby cars.
His family will never forget his love for family and friends, nor his wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include his parents, Freddie and Connie Onstine of Powell and Ronda and Russ Naber of Gillette; his girlfriend, Sarah Chapman of Powell; his brother, Willie Onstine of Powell; his sisters, Tammy Onstine and RayAnn Onstine, both of Powell; his grandmothers, Norma Onstine of Powell and Sharon (and Charles) Jennings of Buffalo; his grandfather, Duane (and Betty) King of Worland; his aunts and uncles, Ray Onstine and Ralph and Loree Onstine of Arizona, Eugene and Kay Onstine of California, Jeannine and William Wood of New Mexico, Rita and Richie Garcia of Worland and Alan and Sandy King of Texas; his great-aunts, Evelyn Onstine and Mary Onstine, both of Powell; niece Morgan Wellman of Powell and nephew Kyle Wellman of Ohio; and numerous cousins.
