The Meeteetse Museums invites the public to join the annual tour of the historic Double Dee Dude Ranch on Saturday.
Guests will depart from the Meeteetse Museums at 8:30 a.m. and caravan to the Double Dee ranch, located in the Shoshone National Forest up the Wood River. High-clearance vehicles are recommended as guests are required to cross JoJo Creek.
The tour will begin on-site at 10 a.m. Guests will be given a history of the dude ranch, the people involved in the operation and introduced to its most famous guest, Amelia Earhart. Visitors will then get the chance to participate in a press conference with Earhart, portrayed by Miss V, the Gypsy Cowbelle.
Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating, water, sun protection and a lunch. While they eat, visitors will be treated to a special performance by the Gypsy Cowbelle, singing genuine “cowbilly” music.
No reservations are required for the tour. The event is free, but donations are encouraged. For more information, visit www.meeteetsemuseums.org or call 307-868-2423.
