(Sept. 10, 1926 - Jan. 2, 2010)Long-time Cody resident Theresa Mary Guinn died Jan. 4, 2010 in Roosevelt, Utah. Theresawas born on Sept. 10, 1926, in Denver, Colo., and was placed in an orphanage until she was adopted at 18 months of age by Ora Belle and Cecil Gross. Theresa grew up in Rangely, Colo., helping her parents and brother run their cattle ranch. She worked as a teacher before she was married. She met Paul “Paul T.” Guinn when he delivered ice to their ranch, and soon thereafter he asked her out on a date. For their first date, Theresa brought along the neighbor children as chaperones. She and Paul were married on Feb. 16, 1947, and they lived in Rangely, where their first four children were born. In 1957, they were transferred with Texaco Oil Company to North Dakota, where Michael was born. In 1964, they moved to Cody to farm. Their last child,Eric, was born in Cody. Theresa maintained her household, raised a large garden and also worked for many years at Husky Oil/Marathon Oil Company. She was constantly on the go and always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Once Theresa retired, she became extremely active at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. She volunteered extensively, including bringing weekly Communion to the disabled and incapacitated residents of Cody. After Paul's death, Theresa moved to Roosevelt, Utah, to be closer to sons Vincent and Michael and their families. She is survived by her children Vincent (Judy), Theresa Miller (Dennis), Philip (Vickie), Michael (Cheryl), and Eric; her brother Leo Gross (Joyce); 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, in 2005, and her first-born son, Patrick, in 2006.Services for Theresa will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Cody. The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 7. The Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery. Donations may be sent in Theresa's name to the Carmelite Monastery, P.O. Box 2747, Cody, WY, 82414; to St. Helen's Catholic Church, 433 E. 200 N., Roosevelt, UT 84066; or a charity of one's choice.
