(Aug. 8, 1930 - Oct. 27, 2010)Theodore “Ted” “Bud” E. Thormahlen, 80, of Scottsbluff, Neb., died Oct. 27, 2010.
Theodore was born Aug. 8, 1930 in Fromberg, Mont., to Edward and Nancy Ellen (Boyer) Thormahlen. He attended schools at Fromberg and Bridger, Mont.
He married Virginia Kramer in Lyman, Neb. Aug. 18, 1957.
Bud enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1956. He then attended college in Powell.
Bud also was commander of Powell National Guard on the late '50s and early '60s.
Theodore started working for Sherwin Williams Paint Company in Wyoming and in 1968 he and Virginia moved to Scottsbluff, where he continued to work in the paint business until his retirement in 1993.
He loved to garden and to take care of his yard and flowers.
Theodore was a member of Salem Congregational Church, Elks Lodge No. 1367, American Legion Post No. 36 in Gering, Neb. He was a past state coordinator of AARP, and on the Widowed Persons Service Board.
His father, Edward “Ed” Thormahlen, lived in Ralston for many years before his death.
Theodore is survived by his mother-in-law Kathryn Kramer of Mitchell, Neb., and relatives in the Powell area and throughout Montana.
Preceding him in death were his parents, wife and two daughters in infancy.
Funeral services were held last month. Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park in Nebraska. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice or Salem Congregational Church.
