Dear editor:
We want to thank the Powell Fire Department for their quick response and the great job they did in putting out a fire which raced up to our place, from a nearby agricultural burn, when the wind intensified and shifted directions. In February one is quite unprepared to deal with these kinds of fires, as the yard/garden hoses and water tanks are still hibernating in their sheds of protection. This could have been quite disastrous without our well trained and equipped volunteer fire department. Again, thank you to the men who left their daily jobs and chores to render aid.
