Dear editor:
I would just like to say, “Job well done!”
Job well done, Terry Call.
Job well done, Park County Commissioners.
Job well done, District Court Judge Snyder.
Terry Call is running unopposed for Park County Assessor, and rightly so. He has done a great job in filling in the vacated position, long held by Pat Myer.
When Pat Myer retired from the position in December 2024, the Park County Republican Central Committee was tasked with providing three names of candidates to the Park County Commissioners to choose our next assessor. That task was marred by an inaccurate voting count — trying to keep Terry Call’s name from being forwarded to the commissioners.
The Park County Commissioners recognized the irregularities and incompetence of the process and refused to participate in the scheme. The selection was sent to Judge Snyder, who rightly chose Mr. Call for the appointment, as he had the skills and the requirements for the position.
So why am I rehashing this? Terry Call, who the Republican Central Committee didn’t choose, is running unopposed. None of their hand-picked candidates decided to put their names on the ballot. I find it interesting that none of those five people, who the Republican Executive and Central Committee favored, decided to run.
I believe this same committee will now endorse their select candidates for many of the offices we will vote for on Aug. 18. I, for one, don’t like being told what to do, let alone who to vote for. Especially when the committee has proven themselves incapable of picking people who are qualified and good for Park County.
