Susan C. Smith, of Powell, passed away on Nov. 1, 2019, after a yearlong battle with cancer.
Sue was born on Jan. 19, 1942, in New Haven, Connecticut, to Elizabeth and Richard Coyle. She has one living brother, Mark Coyle.
Sue and Bob were married for 55 years and had two children, Jennifer A. Smith and Gregory H. Smith. They also had three grandchildren: Aidan E. Smith, Bailey R. Smith and Summer M. Smith.
She was a graduate of Hamden Hall Country Day School, where she first met her future husband Bob. After high school, she attended Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, before settling down with husband Bob in Arlington, Virginia.
Sue and Bob moved to Powell in 1995 to escape from the East Coast. Here, she continued her love for bookkeeping. She started working for Production Machine Company, where she worked for several years.
Sue loved Powell, and she loved to travel with her husband and kids. She was fortunate enough to travel often and enjoyed her time shopping.
In lieu of flowers, Bob has requested that donations be made to American Cancer Society.
A celebration of Sue’s life will be held at Bob and Sue’s home at 619 Wood Street, Saturday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m.
