Sugar beet growers in the Lovell Factory District have had few bumps on the way to completing the 2021 harvest.
For the most part, growers should have the crop delivered to area receiving stations by the end of October, said Ric Rodriguez, Heart Mountain grower and board member of the Western Sugar Cooperative.
Some rain caused a slow down on Tuesday, but “if weather holds, most growers should complete harvest by weekend,” Rodriguez said.
Sugar content is averaging in the middle 18 percentile, he said.
