Submissions sought for ‘Art of the Basin’

The Meeteetse Museums invites artists to submit their work for the second annual “Art of the Basin: An Artistic Rendering of Northwest Wyoming.” Submissions must be two-dimensional, portray northwest Wyoming and be submitted by July 31.

This year, Karen McWhorter of the Whitney Museum of Western Art, Tammi Hannawalt of the National Museum of Wildlife Art and Ken Schuster of the Brinton Museum will serve as judges. Together they will choose first, second, and third place and determine which submissions will be featured in the show.

Thanks to the generosity of Cody Ace Hardware, the Wea Market of Meeteetse, Bank of the West, and the Elkhorn Bar and Grill, the top artists will receive cash prizes and a commemorative plaque.

After the judges make their decision, the physical art must be dropped off at the Museums by Aug. 21. Artists in the show are encouraged to attend the exclusive, invite-only opening on Aug. 27 at the Museum. The show will open to the general public on Sept. 3 and be on display through Dec. 11. If an artist’s work sells, it must remain on display for the duration of the show.

More details can be found on the submission form, available on the Museums’ website: www.meeteetsemuseums.org. Completed forms can be emailed to programs@meeteetsemuseums.org or dropped off at the Museums, 1947 State St. in Meeteetse.
