Stick to true journalism

Dear editor:

I took the time to carefully read the article titled, “Interior Secretary gives up oversight of Interior Department” by Mark Davis in the hopes of becoming better informed about this development. To my dismay I found a terribly slanted article that only gave one side to the recent Trump administration actions. I kept reading in hopes true journalism would eventually prevail and the opposing views would be given some ink, but to avail. Instead copious amounts of ink was spent on highlighting and quoting numerous organizations that are well-known to oppose any changes to environmental policy that don’t further their Marxist agendas — reason or positive results be damned. Case in point is the profusely quoted Center for Western Priorities.

Introduced as “a nonpartisan conservation and advocacy organization”. On their website this group proudly lists the Democrats they support and gives details of how they have an active program that was “created in response to condemn the speech and character of opponents of the Biden administration’s 30×30 plan.” It lists specific critics as proponents of so-called “disinformation, …”. It then goes on to list the Republicans that they have proudly condemned the speech AND character of. This is just one example of many listed on their website for all to see. How does such an organization even retain their 501c3 status much less make it into my hometown paper as a leading source of information on any environmental issue? If I were living in say, Chicago, Illinois and reading, say, the Chicago Tribune, instead of in Powell, Wyoming and reading the Powell Tribune I would expect such unbalanced “reporting” — and I wouldn’t subscribe. I, like the author of this article, have lived in Chicago. I guess I got that stuff off of me shortly after my arrival to Wyoming 40 plus years ago. I humbly ask that this paper revert to true journalism, the kind that keeps subscribers and sells ads by giving fair ink to various opinions while presenting facts and all the while respecting their readers intelligence to make up their own minds. PS, I like the puzzles.
