A group that’s working on ways to manage the amount of sediment that’s carried to the Willwood Dam will meet by teleconference on Friday.
The Willwood Dam/Shoshone River Work Group 2 holds regular meetings to discuss its ongoing activities and studies. The public is invited to attend to listen and offer input.
It’s one of three working groups that was established after tons of sediment were released from behind the Willwood Dam during repairs in 2016; that release killed fish, drew an outcry from anglers and others and led to multiple collaborative efforts to address the sediment problem.
Work Group 2 is specifically tasked with “development of alternatives for the long-term management of sediment above Willwood Dam, and evaluation of water quality standards.”
Its Friday meeting will run from 8:30-10:00 a.m. via conference call. To participate, call 1-929-324-9871 , enter the PIN 493 218 941 and then hit the # button.
