With plans for a second communications tower near Clark, it appears that the rural community will have enhanced service in many areas.
Nemont Telephone Cooperative Inc. recently notified homeowners closest to the proposed structure site about the proposal. Nemont’s Reagann Wilson wrote that the company is looking at erecting a 190-foot-tall tower near the intersection of roads 1AB and 8VE. The firm already has a small shed at the location. She described the planned services as “not Starlink like, but net without fiber ... “ according to her message to Clark resident Jodi Carlini.
She further added that construction could begin this summer, but because the firm does not yet have BLM approval, the specific start date is up in the air. Additionally, the project will have to go through the Park County Planning and Zoning process.
“This project will make it possible for Nemont Telephone to enhance cellular data and high-speed broadband in your area and meet the demands of a rapidly changing telecommunications industry,” she said.
“This is an infrastructure project,” she continued, (and) “the predominant purpose of which is to provide better quality and more reliable cellular service and enhance public safety (911 access) for the residents in your area … We understand that new infrastructure can bring up questions” so those with questions or concerns should call 406-783-2243.
A nearly 400-foot-tall tower has been in operation since earlier this year. It’s located near the intersection of Wyoming highways 294 and 120. It was approved by the county board on Dec. 12, 2023 and erected by Bridger Tower Corp.
