Sally Montoya, who has served the Powell community for 65 years, will be honored at 2 p.m. Monday at the National Guard Armory in Powell.
The Powell Council for Community Services is hosting the celebration and Mayor Don Hillman will present a city proclamation honoring Montoya. Tuesday, Dec. 23, will be Sally Montoya Day in Powell.
Montoya, 84, leads the Christmas Basket program that provides food and toys for needy families. She has helped her community through church activities, as a Girl Scout leader and in many other ways, said Dave Blevins, chairman of the Powell Council for Community Services.
