Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday, Sept. 28) at First United Methodist Church in Powell for Susanna Mary Onstine, 80, who died Sunday, Sept. 24 at West Park Hospital in Cody.
She was born Oct. 23, 1925, daughter of Ben and Mary Simpers. She grew up in the Wapiti Valley and graduated from Cody High School. She attended the University of Wyoming.
Mary worked for the Shoshone Bank of Cody and married Tracy McCormick in November of 1949. They operated the Dutch Mill in Powell.
To this union, Robert T. was born. Tracy died in 1956. Mary was a bookkeeper for Sam Jones and First National Bank of Powell.
She married Louis P. Onstine in November of 1961. Mary Louise was born to this marriage.
Mary kept books for Onstine Bros. Farms and maintained a huge yard and garden. She always helped others and spent much time with the American Legion Auxiliary and First United Methodist Women. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star.
Survivors are son Robert T. McCormick (Cindy), grandsons Robert and Janet McCormick and kids Cassie and Nathan McCormick, Benjamin and Amanda McCormick and kids Ginger and Ben Jr. of Cheyenne; and daughter Mary Louise Wood (Dale) and kids Beth and William of Laramie; sisters Norma Zimmerman and Thelma Voorhees; sisters-in-law, Ruth and Betty Simpers and Evelyn and Norma Onstine; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandson, James Wood.
Thompson Funeral Home in Powell is in charge of arrangements.
