(July 5, 1922 - July 15, 2009)Ruth Sipe Stahn, 87, died July 15 at Powell Valley Healthcare. Ruth was the daughter of Norwegian immigrants, Albert and Anna Rogeness. She was born on July 5, 1922, on the family homestead on White Bird Creek near Absarokee, Mont. She attended schools at Silesia, Mont., and graduated from Billings Senior High School.She met and married Vernon Sipe and had 51 wonderful years of marriage before he died.Survivors include her children, Judy Scheafer (Jerry) of Powell, Vernon Sipe (Darlene) of Billings, Doug Sipe (Vickie) of Billings, Anna Marie Wood (Larry) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Jo Anne Mundy.She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; two brothers; her first husband, Vernon; and her second husband, Jack Stahn.She was a devoted mother and grandmother and delighted in family gatherings, the last of which was her 87th birthday just 10 days before her death. She also loved her church family and became attached to the caretakers from Hands-to-Help.Thompson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and visitation will be Tuesday, July 21 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at New Life Church in Powell at Eighth and Gilbert streets, with Pastor Clyde Seifert of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. A reception will follow the service, and burial will follow at Rockvale Cemetery at 3 p.m. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Hands-to-Help or to the charity of one's choice.
