Ruth I. Ross of Powell died March 29, 2006, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings.
She was 78.
She was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Fredonia, Kan., to Thomas Howard and Dorothy (Mooney) Davis. She attended high school in Casper.
She married Kenneth C. Ross on June 11, 1947, in Billings, and the couple lived most of their married life in Powell, where she worked as a housewife, mother and nurses aid at the Powell nursing home.
In her early years, she enjoyed camping with her family and friends and loved caring for the elderly at the nursing home, where she worked for 16 years. She enjoyed her home and life with her husband, feeding the yard birds and cross-stitching for her children and grandchildren. In her later years, she also kept herself busy with her home and family, especially husband Kenneth, whom she adored.
She is survived by a son, James Ross of Powell; a daughter, Judy (Riley) Norris; two granddaughters, Julie (Eric) Johnson and Cindy (Robert) Ibarra; two step-grandsons, Scott (Cindy) Norris and Dave (Chris) Norris; and eight great-grandchildren, Katherine Johnson, Tia LeeAnn Ibarra, Amanda, Shaundra, Scotty and Cassie Norris and Levi and Dalton Norris.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Ross; mother, Dorothy Robinson and sister, Myrna Lu Handy.
Funeral services were Monday, April 3 at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Powell, with Pastor Dan Binder officiating. Organist was Judy Showalter and vocalist was Carolyn Kost. Pallbearers were Jim Ross, Bob Bessler, Robert Ibarra, Scot Norris and David Norris. Honorary pallbearers were Riley Norris and Ray Linton.
Burial followed in Crown Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Thompson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Billings.
