Rose M. Harder passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 21, 2025. Rose was born on June 9, 1941, in Hardin, Montana, to Rueben and Margaret Reile. She was the second eldest of six siblings and attended St. Xavier Catholic Mission School.

At 18, she married the love of her life, Bud Harder. Together they had three children: Jim Harder, Lori Forsythe and John Harder. Rosie and Bud shared a life full of laughter, love and adventure. Bud worked in construction, and Rose was his steadfast supporter. They moved frequently in their early years, often living alongside extended family. In 1976, they settled in Laurel, Montana, where Rose remained until shortly after Bud’s passing in 2015.

She later relocated to Powell, Wyoming, where she continued to be surrounded by loved ones. Family was the heart of Rose’s life. She loved hosting gatherings, cooking for friends and neighbors, and making sure everyone felt welcome. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her endless pride and joy, including Michelle Puerner and Justin (Karlie) Puerner, and great-grandchildren Easton and Stetson Puerner. If she wasn’t with her family, she could often be found playing cards with friends for endless hours.

Rose was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bud Harder; her son, John Harder; her parents, Rueben and Margaret Reile; and her siblings, Caroline, Beth and Audrey. She is survived by her brother, Mike (Donna) Reile.

A funeral service will be held on May 10, 2025, in Hardin, Montana. Services will take place at Bullis Mortuary on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Rose will be remembered for her warmth, her humor and the love she poured into every gathering and every relationship she touched.
