Roderick “Rod” Reynolds, 84, died July 5 in Powell. He was born on May 27, 1925 in Lewistown, Mont.
Rod was a water well driller, with a background in oil drilling, construction and logging. Rod was soft-hearted and was a teacher to his children and friends. He taught them about the value of hard work, how to catch a fish with a copper wire, how to witch for water and how to tie a tie, among other things.
He was competitive and enjoyed playing games such as cribbage and pinocle. Time spent with his wife of 24 years, Kathy, was his favorite thing. He also liked watching Western movies, sitting on the porch enjoying the hummingbirds feeding, family barbeques, his dogs, R&R and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen “Kathy”; children Guy (Alice), Ernie (Jen), Earl “Joe” (Hope), Rodney (Pam), Mark (Denise), Melvin (Patsy), Todd (Crystal), Vivian, Neva, Lorri (John), Gloria (Ray), and Tanya (Shane); a sister, Venda; a brother, Terry (Corrine); 44 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Crown HIll Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9. A reception will follow at the American Legion. Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
