Robert G. Nicholson of Cody, 80, died Monday, Dec. 25 at West Park Hospital in the presence of his family.
He was born Dec. 15, 1926, in Burlington to Glen and Edna Nicholson. He attended school in Burlington and served in the U.S. Army.
While working at the Pitchfork Ranch, he met his future wife, Caroleen Crook, and they were married in 1955. They had seven children.
He started his own construction business in Cody and then later moved back to his hometown of Burlington to work and raise his family. He loved old tractors and rebuilding old machinery. His latest project was constructing a sheep wagon from scratch. He was known for his love of people and for his giving personality. He continued to help out and to work with his sons up until the time of his death. He often traveled to visit his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years Caroleen of the family home; children, Peggy (Jonathan) Peters of Bozeman, Mont., George (Kelly) Nicholson of Burlington, Nancy Johnson of Johnstown, Colo., Jerry (Monica) Nicholson of Burlington, Jim (Sarah) Nicholson of Cody and Mary (Cleve) Kingen of Parachute, Colo; 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; brother Gerald (Hulene) Nicholson of Burlington; sisters Maxine (Bill) Boynton of San Diego, Calif., Marie Hendricks of Idaho and Margaret (Roy) Lowe of Powell; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son Larry.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m. at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Cody with Pastor Kurt McNabb officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery with a reception to follow for friends and family. Should friends desire, memorials might be made to Fort Shiloh School, P.O. Box 2350, Clark, WY 82435.
